The Apple IIgs launched in 1986 as the only 16-bit Apple II — a hybrid machine bridging the 8-bit II line and the Macintosh. With a 65C816 CPU, Ensoniq sound chip, and 4096-color graphics, it was the most capable Apple II ever made. We build the ROM 1 and ROM 3 motherboards on their original layouts.
Both available. ROM 3 (1989) added 1 MB onboard RAM and fixed several quirks. ROM 1 is more historically authentic for collectors.
Yes — populate it with a 65C816, the original ROMs, and at least 1 MB of RAM, and GS/OS 6.0.4 boots from a standard ProDOS volume.
Every board is hand-soldered by Logan in a Fresno workshop, period-correct components where available, and shipped with a numbered certificate of authenticity.
